On August 21, 2004, the County conducted a waste tire collection event in the community of Boyle Heights at the City of Los Angeles Community Recycling Center. Located south of downtown, the Center offers its residents a drop-off site for various types of solid waste. Tires collected from the event were recycled into roofing shingles and loose playground fill.
