Regional Sediment Management and Water Supply Workshop

On July 14, 2010, the Los Angeles County Flood Control District held a Regional Sediment Management and Water Supply Workshop for invited stakeholders at the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works headquarters building in Alhambra. The workshop represents the first step to developing collaborative solutions for managing accumulated sediment in the flood control, water storage, and water conservation system. During the workshop, the following presentations were made on the background and scope of the sediment management crisis and the work currently underway to identify possible solutions.

• "United States Army Corps of Engineers' Needs Post 2009 Fires" by Mike Farris of the United States Army Corps of Engineers
• "Los Angeles County Flood Control District's Short-Term Needs Post 2009 Fires" by Chris Stone of the Los Angeles County Flood Control District
• "California Coastal Sediment Master Plan" by Susie Ming of the United States Army Corps of Engineers

• "Los Angeles County Flood Control District's Short-Term Sediment Management Strategy Post 2009 Fires" by Chris Stone of the Los Angeles County Flood Control District
• "Los Angeles County Flood Control District's Long-Term Sediment Management Plan" by Gary Hildebrand of the Los Angeles County Flood Control District
