Water Resources Division: Cloud Seeding

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (LACDPW) prepared a Draft Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) for the Board of Supervisors on the proposed cloud seeding program. The program will enhance rainfall over the Pacoima, Big Tujunga, and San Gabriel watersheds, increasing local water availability for groundwater recharge. The document complies with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the County of Los Angeles Environmental Document Reporting Procedures and Guidelines.

The program will enhance local water supplies at relatively low costs. Operations will be conducted November through April, from 2009 through 2012. LACDPW is soliciting community comments on the proposed project.
