The Big Tujunga Mitigation Area is approximately a 210-acre parcel of land located in the City of Los Angeles Sunland area. The site was purchased by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (LADPW) in 1998 for the purpose of compensating for habitat loss from other LADPW projects.

THE TRAILS AROUND THE TUJUNGA PONDS ARE NOW OPEN FOR USE. The contractor performing the water lettuce removal from the ponds has completed the job and heavy equipment is no longer operating at the site. Please Note: areas around the ponds, including portions of the pond banks and the edges of the trail between the ponds, have been planted with willow and mulefat cuttings to restore the habitat to pre-project conditions. Please do not disturb or remove the cuttings. Thank you for your cooperation throughout this project. |
